Sharad Wadhwani is a pediatric hepatologist and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco. He research lies at the intersection of pediatric hepatology, population health, and health systems improvement. Dr. Wadhwani's research has been funded by AASLD, the Starzl Network for Excellence in Pediatric Transplantation, AGA, American Society of Transplantation, and the NIH. Presently, he leads the NIH-funded, multi-center SOCIAL-Tx study, focused on understanding how social determinants of health influence outcomes for children undergoing liver transplant, with the goal of using this knowledge to improve post-transplant outcomes. Over the course of his K23, he has been working to develop a health advocate intervention to help families undergoing pediatric liver transplantation address social adversities. Beyond his professional commitments, Sharad finds joy in being a devoted father to three young children. His leisure time is often spent engaging in outdoor activities, cooking, or immersing himself in the captivating and not annoying melodies of children’s music.
