Huey-Ling Chen, MD, PhD, is Professor of Pediatrics at the College of Medicine, National Taiwan University (NTU), and an attending pediatric gastroenterologist and hepatologist at National Taiwan University Children’s Hospital. She also serves as Director of the Department of Medical Education at NTU hospital, and Director of the Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Bioethics at NTU College of Medicine. Professor Chen received her MD and PhD from National Taiwan University and completed her pediatric residency and fellowship training in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology at National Taiwan University Hospital. Her clinical and research expertise centers on pediatric liver diseases, including hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HBV, cholestatic liver diseases, progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis, and genetic and metabolic liver disorders. She has also made important contributions to precision medicine approaches, bile acid–related disorders, and the gut–liver axis. Professor Chen has led and participated in multiple landmark multicenter studies, including the Taiwan Study Group for the Prevention of Mother-to-Infant Transmission of HBV (PreMIT). She has published extensively in leading international journals such as Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, Gut, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Liver International, Journal of Pediatrics and Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), former President of the Taiwan Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, and currently serves as Chair of the Education Committee of the Asia Pacific Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (APSPGHAN). Professor Chen is a frequent invited speaker at major international conferences and is committed to advancing pediatric liver care, education, and global collaboration.
