S8.3 Anesthetic considerations for complex pediatric liver transplantations

Julianne Mendoza, United States

Clinical Associate Professor
Anesthesiology
Stanford School of Medicine

Biography

After completing my anesthesiology residency and subspecialty fellowship training at Stanford University School of Medicine in 2010, I chose a career in academic medicine to further my interest, as a pediatric anesthesiologist, in complex patients including abdominal organ transplant recipients. I am the Director of Anesthesiology for Liver Transplantation for Stanford Children’s Health to UNOS and the Director of Anesthesiology for Pediatric Liver Transplantation. This specialty anesthesiology team provides anesthesia care for all pediatric liver transplant recipients including the perioperative cases, pediatric kidney transplant recipients, and all pediatric liver resections. In addition, I have a strong interest in enhancing patient quality and safety as co-chair of the Professional Practice Evaluation Committee, Division Pediatric Anesthesia, as well as a contributing member of multiple quality and safety committees at Stanford Children’s.
