Biography
Dr Helen Evans is a Paediatric Hepatologist at Starship Child Health in Auckland, New Zealand. Helen trained at Birmingham Children's Hospital in the UK before moving to New Zealand in 2005 where she is Head of Department for Paediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and also Service Clinical Director for Paediatric Medical Specialities. Her clinical interests include liver disease, particularly biliary atresia, liver transplantation, intestinal failure, adolescent medicine and transition, and quality improvement into reduction of health inequities in indigenous New Zealanders. She has an Honorary appointment at the University of Auckland where she undertakes teaching and clinical research. She is also a member of the Pharmacology and Therapeutics Advisory Committee for Pharmac, New Zealand's medicines commissioning agency. She is also a senior examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Helen is the current Secretary-Treasurer of the International Pediatric Transplant Association and is an Associate Editor for Pediatric Transplantation, as well as Deputy Editor for Intestinal Failure. Helen is delighted to be able to participate in her first SPLIT meeting.
